A morning early May plein air painting of the lower creek bed at Cherokee Ranch was intended to capture the grove of pines that line the dry sweeping curve. The empty sand wished for rain so much that the paints gladly filled it to a flowing river. Imagination added the crest of Pikes Peak overlooking the magical moment although in reality it was directly behind us.
